Welcome to Summit

The back suite at Base Camp 500 · Salt Lake City

The back suite

The quiet side, with the morning in it.

Summit sits at the back of the building, so the mornings arrive slowly. Skis lean by the back door, the hot tub is a few steps from the kitchen, and the yard on the other side of the glass is yours for the stay.

Why the back suite

Blue skis, and the quiet side of the same building.

Two suites share the building. Summit is the one at the back, so its windows look into the trees.

The sign on the door is not an exaggeration. The back windows frame the yard and the tree over it, and the first light lands on the kitchen counter. It is the difference between a place to sleep near the mountains and a place that is quiet when you come back down them.

Room by room

Every frame of the suite.

The living room from the door: a cream sectional in navy and blue, the TV wall, the dining table through the arch.

The living room from the door: a cream sectional in navy and blue, the TV wall, the dining table through the arch. The same room from the TV side: two shuttered windows, a gold floor lamp, and the carved wood panels on the wall. The room from the far corner: the Après Ski print over the bar cart, three windows, the long side of the sectional. The corner of the sectional: a navy throw, a chevron pillow, and one that says Relax, which is the house rule. The console under the TV: a woven bowl, a blue vase, and the board games stacked where guests can find them. The kitchen: white cabinets, a stainless range and microwave, and a breakfast bar with three stools. The counter and its peninsula, with the dining table and its grey chairs just past the bar. The sink corner: a farmhouse sink, a wooden board, the knife block, and a four-slice toaster. The range, a crock of wooden spoons, a cream kettle, and the coffee maker lined up beside them. The counter's one bright thing: a blue Smeg toaster, with the coffee maker and the kettle in reach. The table set for six, blue napkins folded, with the living room and its Relax pillow behind. The kitchen and the table in one frame, so whoever cooks never leaves the conversation. Place settings up close: white plates on blue napkins, a wine glass each, and the plant in the middle. The dining nook, the Après Ski print, and the bar cart waiting for the hour after. The primary: a white bed under a navy waffle throw, two glass lamps, and a blue trellis rug. Bedroom two: navy bedding, two blue-glass lamps, and a pair of blue abstracts over the bed. Bedroom three: a rust throw, star-patterned pillows, and a barn door that slides shut. The upstairs bath: subway tile, a glass shower with a rain head, and a granite vanity. The vanity, close: granite, brushed-nickel taps, and towels folded where you can reach them. The same bath from the door, with the toilet at the left and the shower in the mirror. The powder room downstairs: a white vanity, a blue leaf print, and a window you can open.

After the mountain, the yard.

Your own hot tub and your own fire pit, behind your own gate. Nobody shares them, and nobody books them. Come down off the hill at four, be in the water by five, and be at dinner downtown by seven.

Where you are

A different mountain every day. The same city every night.

Five resorts sit about 35 minutes up the canyons. Downtown sits about fifteen minutes the other way. Summit sits in the middle, which is the whole idea.

Times run with traffic and canyon weather. On a powder morning, leave early and take the back deck's word for it.

Summit opens in 2026.

The back suite takes its first reservations soon. Put your name down and we will hold you a place near the front of the line, and tell you the week the hot tub goes in.
