The desert does its best work between the pool and the sky.

Juniper is built for the long middle of the day: four king suites under twelve-foot ceilings, chaises the color of the sunset, and a kidney of turquoise water that stays warm past dinner.

Oranges from the yard, records on the console, the Santa Rosa Mountains going purple over the fence line — and El Paseo's galleries seven minutes away on foot, if you ever put shoes on.

When the sun drops, the fire comes up.

The spa runs hot, the firepit crackles, and the desert finally exhales. Dinner moves outside somewhere around the second bottle — the mountains keep the last of the light longer than seems fair.
